In The News

🚨 Bernadette Marie Snyder, 46, of State College was charged with retail theft after leaving the Weis market at Rolling Ridge Drive and South Atherton Street with two carts full of unpaid items back in September. Snyder first left with one cart of groceries, then returned to fill another cart with Halloween decorations, without paying for the items either time. Loss prevention confronted Snyder loading the items into her car in the parking lot. None of the merchandise was bagged, requiring two carts to be returned to the store. No bail was listed for Snyder and she is scheduled to appear before a judge in December for a preliminary hearing. [NorthCentralPA]
💥 A Bellefonte teen driver lost control while taking a turn along the 800 block of Axemann Road and crashed into a 52-year-old Clinton County man's vehicle on Wednesday evening. The man was ejected from his vehicle resulting in serious injury. He was airlifted to UPMC Wiliamsport for treatment of a head injury. Neither the teen driver nor the man's 43-year-old female passenger were injured in the collision. The crash remains under investigation. [Centre Daily Times via Yahoo]
💵 The Centre County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution to apply for a $1 million state grant to support expanding the Centre County Public Safety Training Center. The current center has seen substantial growth in recent years across its police, EMS, and firefighting training programs. The planned expansion aims to meet the increasing demand for emergency responder training in the region. Securing funding is a priority for the county in order to enhance public safety training and address the need for more emergency personnel. [StateCollege.com]
