State High alum to be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame

Jonathan Koch, a State College High School alum and former wrestler, will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2024.
He is being honored with the Medal of Courage which is awarded to a wrestler or former wrestler who has overcome what appear to be insurmountable challenges, providing inspiration to others.
In 2015, Koch became severely ill, was placed into a coma, and lost all or part of all four limbs to septic shock.
Although his chances of survival were slim, Koch survived against the odds and underwent numerous surgeries and intense rehab.
He made medical history after successfully receiving a human hand transplant, which he learned to use in just months.
Within months after the transplant, the resilient Koch was back playing tennis.
He now travels the world sharing his motivational story through speaking engagements.
Koch will be officially inducted on May 31 and June 1, 2024 during the 47th Honors Weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
