Boalsburg man accused of recording 2 women showering in Penn State dorm

A 24-year-old man from Boalsburg, Xinyu Li, was arrested on charges of secretly recording two women while they showered in a Penn State dormitory.
Li, who is not affiliated with the university, admitted to the act and also to unauthorized entry into Hamilton Hall.
Although he said he deleted the videos he recorded because he “felt guilty”, a search of his phone by detectives revealed five videos stored in a calculator app designed to prevent their detection.
Li faces two felony counts of criminal trespass and two misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy.
Penn State police urged the campus community to adhere to safety protocols, emphasizing not allowing unknown individuals into residence halls.
Li, identified as the founder of a delivery, moving and storage service for college students, remains in custody at the Centre County Correctional Facility with a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday.

⚖️ A settlement may be near in a Title IX lawsuit brought forth by a group of parents against the State College Area School District. A recent ruling by a federal judge indicates that the district has made a settlement offer, but the plaintiffs have raised concerns about alleged retaliatory threats within it. The judge has called for a copy of the settlement offer to be filed within the next week, including redactions proposed by the plaintiffs. The dispute began in 2022 after the formation of a club hockey team within the district included no girls, as well as rejecting the parents' offer to form a separate girls' team. [WJAC]
